Central Bank Pensioners Welfare Society(Maha Banku Vishramika Suba Sadhka Sansadaya) is a social welfare service organization commenced on 28th January 2006. This society consists of members retired from the Central Bank Service as on voluntary basis prior to attainment of their due age of retirement.

Most of them who joined the Central Bank Service from various areas in Sri Lanka have been able to reach success in life by identifying and understanding correctly the problems in the society for facing boldly the challenges they met. They had talent to take over social responsibilities since these days in central colleges and maha vidyalayas as they had been either head perfects or prefects and had succeeded in the fields of sports, dramas and literary works. With the university education, they entered the Central Bank and gathered experienced over 25 year of service. Some of them have even completed over 35 year service.

It is needless to say that while contributing their service to the Bank at the maximum level, they tried their effort participating actively in trade unions as Central Bank employees actively, Central Bank graduates union and executive officers union, and in religious associations as Buddhist association and Christian Association, as well as in other social service organization like cultural societies. Today, the most of these officers retired on voluntary basis have been relieved of their responsibilities of educating their children or attending to other social works. At present, they carry on their life with much ease and pleasure.

Everyone has a duty for contributing his/her service to the benefit of the society. Therefore, the senior citizen has a wide range of duty towards the general society. The period he was regarded as someone made use of carrying further value has actually ended. We believe that the pensioner with his work-experience and wide knowledge over a period of a half century is capable of taking a challenge with confidence. Their strength in him was assessed to be used for the social welfare and development, resulting in the formation of the present Central Bank Pensioners' Welfare Society.
